North Jutland is an unique Danish destination where the North Sea and the Baltic Sea meet at Grenen, the northern tip of Denmark. It has beautiful stunning coastal landscapes, wide sandy beaches, dramatic dunes and magnificient light that are perfect for nature lovers. The region is populair with painters, art lovers but also for surfers and beach-goers. North Jutland has charming fishing villages like Skagen, Løkken and Lønstrup and vibrant towns like Aalborg, known for its art, food scene, and Scandinavian architecture. As soon as the first rays of sunlight hit this part of Denmark gets the tourists crowds.

Saeby North Jutland
Saeby is a pretty small village, perhaps the little brother or sister to Skagen. Stroll along the two main streets and make your way to the harbour. Here you can hike 4 different Kløverstier hiking routes (between 2,5-21,1km). Go and see Saeby's Lady from the sea statue. There are plenty of restaurants near the harbour, like Saeby Bryghus and Jacobs Fiskerestaurant. For coffee and shopping be sure not to miss Rumklang. Walk your way back along Algade street, the oldest street with wooden timbered houses and the church.
Skagen North Jutland
Skagen in North Jutland Denmark is a very pretty village with lots of yellow hued (summer)houses, a nice shopping street and a big harbour. Skagen is super popular in summer with tourists. Some nice shops are Skagen The & Kaffe and Laurentius Skagen cooking shop. The Bellevue vintage shop is where you can buy all things french antiques (propably not for the best price though ;). Try Restaurant Ankerhus, Jorgens Spisehus, Skagen Fiskerestaurant or Restaurant Pakhuset for seafood lunch or dinner. I enjoyed coffee and a cardamom bun from the Skagen Bageri & Cafe. A populair attraction is the Skagens Museum with art and paintings from the 'Skagen School'.
On the other side of the town you have Gammel Skagen (Old Skagen) where you find the summer residents and the Ruth Hotel, one of Denmark's grand bathing hotels and has two restaurants for you to try. Sømærket Vin- & CiderBar is a nice and cosy bar with outside terrace and occassional live music.
Grenen, North Jutland
About 3km northeast of Skagen, is Grenen is the most northern part of Denmark. Grenen is a quite unique natural phenomenon, it is where the two seas Skagerak and Kattegat meet, and the waves culminate with each other. You can park you car at the car park (for free) and walk your way up to the long sandbar split and to the very far end of the tip. In the summer it is overly crowded with tourists, so be a bit prepared. Luckily I was here in autumn time and could quietly walk my way up along the coastline and back through the dunes.
Lønstrup North Jutland
What a cute little beachside village. It's worth a visit for a stroll and to check out the cute fashion shops like Minn Lille Butik, ceramic shops, art galleries and cute cafes like Cafe Oldschool and Kegels Bageri, just a bit further down towards Mårup Kirke.
Mårup Kirke North Jutland
Don't be fooled. The church on the cliff no longer exists. For several hunderd years, Mårup Church sat on the 30-metre high Lønstrup cliff that was slowly eroded by the North Sea, and before the church could collapse, it was demolished in 2008-2015. From the village Lønstrup its a short walk up to the cliff. From Mårup Kirke you can even walk along the cliff further down to the Rubjerg Knude lighthouse.
Rubjerg Knude North Jutland
Rubjerg Knude is the highest part of the 13km Lønstrup cliff. The 23-metre high lighthouse was built in 1900. At that time it was located 200 metres inland. Its a nice short walk from the car park and you really need to hike your way up over the sand dunes. In 2019, the lighthouse was moved 70 metres to prevent it from falling into the sea.
Løkken North Jutland
I believe that Løkken is a nice beach town in summer when people flock here for surfing activities. When I was in Løkken the town was already preparing for winter hibernation. Nevertheless, try the restaurant RARSTED.DK and/or Vinbar Butik Vin HR Jessen. Fun thing to do is the Løkken Kunststi, an experience trail with a number of art works. I spotted a few myself while wandering around the town. Towards Løkken Nord Strand you'll find Huset HAVS boutique store and cafe.
Aalborg North Jutland
I enjoyed visiting the city Aalborg. Its a nice mix of old and new and with cobbled streets full with (fashion) boutiques, a nice waterfront, iconic architectural buildings, and famous streets with Instagrammable colourful houses like Hjelmerstald. The Utzon Center in Aalborg is an experimental center for culture and knowledge, where architecture, design, art, and communication come together. Another striking building on Aalborg’s waterfront is the House of Music, a cultural venue. The Kunstmuseum of Modern Art is another very cool building with a nice collection inside. The Lighthouse is a hipster streetfood market in a former furniture factory. Its located at Skudehavnen in the western part of the city.
The Nordkraft power station is another (cultural) hotspot. Have you spotted any giant street art murals? If you like pre-loved fashion than go shopping at Your 2Hand Closet. For coffee try Penny Lane Cafe or Kochs Kaffee Bar. If you fancy lunch than Caspars is a nice option; healthy food made from good ingredients with an Asian twist.
